We decided to try a new place, Aloft – built in an old railroad depot, the rooms are in an urban-loft style. We love staycations because they’re nice little unexpected surprise getaways from the real world.

The real surprise, though, was when we asked the hotel if we could bring our dog Addy. Sure, they told us, and at no extra charge!

When we got to the hotel, they said they would bring our free “woof pack” up to the room. To welcome Addy to Aloft, they were giving her an Aloft dog bowl, dog bed, and a doggy bag full of Milk Bones!

We totally didn’t expect the hotel to welcome Addy like that. It reminded me the importance of delivering something unexpected — some surprise free benefit that may not even cost that much, but that leaves your constituents smiling about their experience.
